What Is a Russian Manicure? Technique, Benefits and Aftercare

A Russian manicure is a detail-focused, dry manicure technique. Instead of soaking the hands first, the nail artist works carefully around the nail plate and cuticle area with professional tools. The aim is a clean, refined finish and a neat outline around the polish or overlay. The exact approach is tailored to the condition of each client’s nails and surrounding skin.

Does a Russian Manicure Always Include Gel?

No. Russian manicure describes a preparation and detailing approach, not one particular coating. A client may choose a clean manicure without polish, or a manicure with a hard gel or builder gel overlay where suitable. At ByKris Beauty Lab we do not use acrylic, dip powder or Gel-X.

What Happens During an Appointment?

Your nail artist assesses the nails, shapes them, performs precise dry detailing and prepares the nail surface. If you choose an overlay, the artist applies the selected material and finishes with your preferred color or a natural look. Nail health and appropriate product selection come before a particular trend.

How Often Should You Return?

We generally recommend refreshing hand services every three to four weeks. Growing nails change the balance of an overlay, so keeping regular appointments is more practical than waiting for lifting or breakage. If you notice discomfort, damage or lifting, contact the studio instead of picking at the product.
